“We’ve conducted a lot of market research prior to this launch and found that there was a real demand for stylish menswear that accommodates more body shapes,” explains Nicholas Tahir, head of buying at River Island. The retailer deserves plaudits for catering to all, but it is amazing that even though many of fashion’s wardrobe staples haven’t changed for decades, designers and brands have been slow cater to different body shapes.
The Big & Tall line is made up of staple styles such as Oxford shirts, T-shirts, slim chinos and denim, as well as more fashion-forward items like ripped denim and a Harrington style blouson jacket. Together, they make up a range of functional and aesthetically appealing that’s perfect for all ages.
