I’m Training For A Marathon And Prime Day Is An Opportunity To Stock Up On Running Essentials For Less
If you’re also running a lot this summer, it’s well worth checking out Prime Day deals on supplements and socks
Prime Day, the annual two-day dealfest held by Amazon every summer, always has plenty of discounts on expensive purchases that can help runners (cough Garmin Prime Day deals cough), but it can also be useful for buying more prosaic items you know you’re going to need and if you nab a deal now you can save a bit of money in the long run.
I have wrangled myself a place in this year’s London Marathon (lucky me) and am three-weeks deep into this sub-3hr marathon training plan and oh my am I running a lot. To the point where I’m scrabbling to find clean running socks (and I’m well stocked from contributing to our best running socks round-up).
Yesterday I attended a London Marathon media event and as well trying out gait analysis and hearing from this year’s lead charity partner the British Heart Foundation talk turned to fuelling the long runs. That means gels and sports drinks, which I have little direct experience of. I need to start practising consuming carbs mid run and when better to start then this weekend?
So, armed with a shopping list of socks and supplements, I’ve dived into the morass of Prime Day deals to identify potentially useful money savers for anyone who’s following a running training plan this summer.
Prime Day Running Sock Deals

Save £1.95 For a more affordable bulk buy, try this pack of three pairs from Under Armour. The Heatgear range prioritises moisture wicking and breathability – just the thing for a long hot summer of running.
Prime Day Gels Deals
HIGH5 Energy Gel: Was £19.99 Now £7.25 On Amazon
Save £12.74 We’ve rated these as tasty and easy to consume, and as they’re made from natural fruit juice they’re unlikely to upset your stomach as you run either. With a substantial 64% price cut on a mixed flavour box of 20 it’s hard to pass up. If you’d prefer one flavour, browse all the HIGH5 Prime Day deals.
Science in Sport Go Isotonic Energy Gel: Was £18.48 Now £13.99 On Amazon
Save £3.79 While it’s not such a big saving, this is our pick for the best all-round gel as it’s easy to take without water. This deal is for 15 packs of the cherry flavour. The RRP and pricing is a hot mess, to be honest, but click around and you should be able to find a deal you’re happy with. The SiS website lists a pack of 15 gels for £25.50.
