Exercise can make a huge difference to everyone’s health and wellbeing, but doing something active isn’t always just a case of summoning the motivation to move. Many people have to take the effects of a long-term health condition into account, for examples. According to research from the We Are Undefeatable campaign, one-fifth of people with a health condition feel self-conscious about doing physical activity in public, and 56% are worried about leaving the house to exercise.

We Are Undefeatable is a charity-backed campaign that aims to help people with long-term health conditions be more active. And with this new research in mind, it has launched a new initiative called the Home Games.

The Home Games is a 10-week programme that gives people access to virtual classes via Zoom that aim to help you exercise using items from around your home. You can expect to take part in training for events like laundry basketball, the baked bean lift and balloon football. Later in the summer the Home Games themselves will be held, so you can put your training into practice.

There will be two teams for the games, captained by Paralympians Dame Sarah Storey and Lauren Rowles MBE, who will also lead you through the 10 weeks of training. If you are keen to get involved in the Home Games email homegames@webershandwick.com, and look out for updates on We Are Undefeatable’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

If all this talk of laundry basketball and the baked bean lift has inspired you to exercise right now, then check out the We Are Undefeatable YouTube channel for ideas on what you can do using furniture and other household items. There are also ideas for home exercise on the campaign’s website.
