MF meets Michael Phelps
The most successful Olympian of all time sits down with MF’s Nick Hutchings to chat training, winning and what the future holds
As well as being the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 22 medals to his name, Michael Phelps also holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals (18, double that of his nearest rival), Olympic gold medals in individual events (11), and Olympic medals in individual events for a male (13).
In winning eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, Phelps took the record for the most first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games. Five of those victories were in individual events, tying the single Games record. At London 2012 Phelps won four golds and two silver medals, making him the most successful athlete of the Games for the third Olympics in a row.
He recently came to London, where MF met up with him for an exclusive interview.
This video is a small excerpt from our full interview with swimming legend Michael Phelps. Watch the interview in its entirety in the February interactive edition of MF.
