Salomon Mission RS8
Our expert review:
The Salomon Mission RS8 is a tale of two plastics. A thin inner web wraps around your foot for a precise fit, while the thick plastics of the outer offer protection and transmit energy effectively from foot to ski. What's more, it's got a responsive yet forgiving flex pattern, meaning it can handle everything from the softest powder to the hardest piste.

Salomon SPK Pro Model
Our expert review:
BEST IN TEST
The Salomon SPK Pro looks like the boot Darth Vader would wear if decided to use his force powers to crush funparks rather than unfortunate Imperial officers' layrnxes. Appropriately, in Darth's case, the SPK cuff is constructed using almost weightless Space Frame technology so the dark lord wouldn't feel bogged down if he was hooning it away from a Wampa. It's also got extra neoprene padding around the toe cup to stop Vader from bruising his tootsies if his force powers went awry halfway through a 1080˚.

Nordica Speedmachine 110
Our expert review:
This expert-level boot is supportive, comfortable and offers excellent ski control. Its Precision Fit linergives great foot hold, while the flex of the boot is adjustable for different terrain types. It also has a full-length rubberised footboard for added shockabsorption, and, thanks to supersoft plastics in the instep of the shell, it's easier to get on and off than almost any other boot out there.

Fischer Viron 95
Our expert review:
This well-priced boot uses Fischer’s Soma Tec construction, which has a forgiving flex and features a full Thermo fit liner. In addition, it hasdouble canting, which allows you to accurately align your body, boots and skis for better control and increased injury prevention. Our favourite thing about this boot is that you can stick a heatable insole in it – great for ball-shrinkingly cold days.
