Buying snowboard bindings
MF brings you our pick of the 2008/2009 winter season bindings. Strap in and charge down the hill
Salomon Relay XLT
£200
Out goes the traditional solid heel cup, in comes a soft heel loop/cable system, which gives better mobility, hold and response. The XLT also features a Smart Sole with EVA padding and Aircell inserts so hard landings won't do your heels so much damage you can't walk to the bar at the end of a hard day's session.
K2 Auto Ever
£180
K2's revolutionary Auto Ever has a toe strap that automatically closes and opens with the ankle strap, creating a one ratchet entry and exit. This means you'll get into and out of your bindings quicker than ever before but won't sacrifice protection or performance in the process.
Ride Contraband
£125
Instead of an independent ratchetable toe strap, this binding features a flexible plastic V-strap that is attached to the ankle strap so, like the K2 Auto Ever, you'll get in and out of these bindings far quicker than you would in a conventional pair. Less straps also means less weight so you won't feel like you're lifting a tank every time you try to get airborne.
Burton CO2
£250
The dual component baseplate on this Burton binding gives a perfect balance of board feel and stability. It also has impact dampening pads so your body is spared some of the bone-jarring crunch of heavy landings. The Living Hinge technology in the high back reduces the weight of the binding and allows you to adjust your forward lean independently of your high back rotation.
