Howard has worked as a journalist since 2004, and was part of the editorial team of men’s weekly magazine ShortList from its launch in 2007 to its closure in 2019.

Since then, Howard has specialized in health, fitness and wellbeing, writing for publications such as Runner’s World, Trail Running, Red Bulletin, Fit&Well, Cycling Weekly and Get Sweat Go, to The Telegraph, The Independent, GQ, T3 and Strava.

In his spare time, Howard enjoys running and cycling. After running the London Marathon in 2004, he’s taken part in a variety of races, from a mile to ultra-marathons, recently completing the Lakeland 100 and UTMB 100-mile races. His marathon PR is 2hr 50min but is hoping to shave a little off that time before he gets too old.

He has recently joined Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletics Club, and enjoyed going back to cross-country racing, which he hadn’t done since his school days. He prefers trail running and mountain biking to being on the roads, and enjoys getting lost on the Hampshire trails near where he lives.

Howard graduated from Cardiff University in 2002 with a degree in journalism, film and broadcasting before going on to complete a PG(Dip) in magazine journalism, also at Cardiff University. In addition to being a journalist, Howard is a children’s author, with three picture books published: Lots of Frogs, The Mightiest Bite and The Fastest Tortoise in Town.
