Learn To Surf In Style At Boardmasters’ New French Surf Camp
The Cornish surf festival is heading for the Continent this summer
In the bleak British winter it can be hard to imagine summer’s return, but you can at least feel a little warmer right now by planning your summer adventures.
Keen surfers and wannabe wave riders alike now have the opportunity start next summer in the best possible way, thanks to the team behind the UK’s biggest international surf contest and festival, Newquay’s Boardmasters.
For the first time, Boardmasters is leaving the Cornish coast and heading for south-west France. The week-long Boardmasters Surf Camp (30th June to 7th July) in Moliets, just up the coast from Biarritz, promises all the chilled, good-times vibes of the original festival with group yoga and live music playing a big part, and also offers surfers of any ability the chance to ride the superior waves of the world-class beaches around the Landes region.
That’s not all. Not by a long stretch. After surfing, yoga and live music, there’s screenings at an outdoor cinema, evening skateboarding sessions, beach picnics, campfires, walks in the surrounding pine forest, cocktails in a tiki bar and more to fit into your simultaneously hectic but totally chilled-out schedule.

On how the new camp came about, co-CEO of Boardmasters Andrew Topham said: “Over the years, thousands of our followers have discovered their love of surfing with their first lesson on Fistral Beach or Watergate Bay. And much as we encourage them to continually return to our Cornish home, throughout the winter months, we’re keen to give them another destination where they can enjoy our style of laid-back fun and great waves. We’ve merged all the best experiences of our Boardmasters beach festival into a special one-week stay, bringing all our surf, music and soul elements into the perfect getaway for those who want to start their summer with some serious fun and adventure.”
The week-long surf camp costs £349, which covers bell-tent accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, group yoga sessions and live music. There are upgrade options too, including daily surfing lessons and boutique camping.
