With outdoor sports, waterside culture and a celebrated brewing scene, Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance is a smart choice for a short break all year round. In winter it really comes into its own - some of the most popular ski resorts in Europe are only a 60- to 90-minute transfer by coach. With British Airways morning departures from London Gatwick flying there directly, it’s possible to set off from home and be on the slopes the same day.
British Airways run flights throughout the winter season most weekends, from just £38 each way. The lowest fares can be found at ba.com/ski, with cheap deals when you book return travel and take hand baggage only. If you’ve got your own gear, skis can be included in the 23kg allowance for standard fare travel.
British Airways also offer direct flights to Geneva and Grenoble, as well as to lesser known but well-positioned destinations like Friedrichshafen - from which you can easily reach some of the most popular resorts in Europe. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites.
